PRP Hair Restoration in San Antonio, TX

Conveniently located to serve San Antonio, TX

Hair Restoration with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an outpatient medical technique that uses your body’s enriched plasma to stimulate the cells of the hair follicles. Growth factors are in blood platelets, which reactivate the stem cells in the skin and regenerate the hair follicle to grow stronger and thicker hair.

Conveniently located to serve San Antonio, New Braunfels and Fredericksburg.

Benefits of PRP Treatment for Hair Restoration

Platelet-rich plasma hair therapy for hair restoration uses your blood’s natural growth factors to stimulate hair follicles and promote new growth. This non-invasive procedure can help improve hair thickness and density, giving you healthier and fuller hair without the need for surgery. There are many benefits to getting PRP treatment for hair restoration. It increases hair volume, enhances hair texture, and strengthens hair follicles, all contributing to a more youthful and vibrant appearance.

How PRP Therapy Works

During a PRP treatment for hair restoration, a small amount of your blood is drawn and processed to separate the platelet-rich plasma. This plasma is then injected into your scalp, targeting areas affected by hair loss. The growth factors in PRP boost hair follicle activity, encourage new growth, and strengthen existing hair. The procedure is quick, with minimal discomfort and no downtime.

PRP therapy is a safe and natural option because it uses your body’s platelets to rejuvenate your hair. The entire process typically takes about an hour, and you can return to your daily activities immediately afterward. Dr. Bill Murphy can explain whether PRP hair restoration may be appropriate for you during a consultation.

Who Can Benefit from PRP Hair Restoration?

PRP hair restoration is suitable for both men and women experiencing hair thinning or loss. It’s especially effective for those in the early stages of hair loss or those looking to improve hair density. Ideal candidates are in good health and have realistic expectations about the treatment outcomes.

PRP therapy can also be an excellent option for individuals who prefer a non-surgical hair restoration treatment. It’s also beneficial for those who have tried other hair loss treatments without success. If you’re noticing thinning hair or bald patches, PRP hair restoration could be the solution you need to achieve thicker, healthier hair.

What Happens During PRP Treatment

PRP treatment begins by drawing a small blood sample from the patient. The sample is placed in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the other blood components. The compound obtained is called platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and is injected into the scalp with a very thin needle. Patients can choose to do this procedure with sedation for their comfort and return to normal activities on the same day.

An entire PRP treatment typically takes an hour and a half. First, the nurse draws your blood and places it into a centrifuge where it’s spun at speeds so high that the different parts of the blood become separated. The platelet-rich plasma is removed and then injected into your scalp. Your body’s growth factors go to work for the maximum aesthetic outcome. PRP continues to provide rejuvenation for up to three months after the initial injection.

In most cases, hair grows back stronger and more luminous. Results vary depending on how advanced the androgenetic alopecia is, so the sooner treatment begins, the greater the possibility of hair regrowth. It is recommended to have a series of three treatments. This regenerative therapy also prevents further hair loss. Ask Dr. Murphy at Turquoise Springs Medical Spa about any of your hair loss concerns.

Frequently Asked Questions about Hair Restoration

u

Can this be done in one visit?

No. The best results in the medical literature have been seen after three to four treatments spaced about four weeks apart. For that reason, our medical director will only do this procedure if you agree to do at least three treatments. We want to give you the best result possible.

u

What results can I expect?

It is possible your hair follicles cannot be stimulated to produce a viable hair follicle again. In most patients, however, hair growth will begin with wispy, fine hair and progress to thicker and more viable hair growth by the end of the third treatment. A fourth treatment may be indicated depending on progress.

u

How many treatments do I need to see results?

At least three treatments, four weeks apart. At times, a fourth treatment is necessary.

u

When should I consider starting PRP hair restoration?

The younger the patient, the more likely the treatment will be successful. It is better to start at the first signs of thinning rather than after hair loss has significantly progressed.
